Actually I am one of the 101 Local Humans to be exact. Over the last few months there has been a search happening around Canberra. Over 1100 people applied but only 101 were chosen. The Canberra Times in their article explained how 101 Canberrans will be recruited in the city’s 101st year to become tourism ambassadors for their territory. They will be given training to increase their tourism knowledge of their own backyard and then asked to invite friends or relatives from interstate to visit for a weekend in October. Like the first Human Brochure, those selected will be savvy social media users, but this time the bloggers, Facebookers, tweeters and Instagramers will be from Canberra. And that’s me! I’ve been lucky enough to be included in this rather cool bunch. Especially lucky as we don’t actually live in Canberra. We are just Canberra cool by association. Lucky for me the regional towns surrounding Canberra were allowed to try out. One of the 101 Local Humans has already been profiled in the Sydney Morning Herald.
So far we’ve been introduced to each other ‘virtually’ via our Facebook group. In a few weeks we will meet in person at our first session. From then we have a variety of up-skilling sessions covering blogging, Instagram and other social media platforms. Needless to say I’m just a tad excited! But probably most exciting, is that I will be experiencing some of the best that Canberra has to offer. I’m looking forward to sampling some of the regions best wines, food and craft beer, as well as some really cool activities. Unfortunately hubby doesn’t get to come to most of them. Little Miss and Our Little Man come to a few though. No need to worry, all said adventures will be blogged about! It all culminates in a weekend around September or October where my family will have a weekend experience together. I’m yet to find out exactly what that is – but if the lead up events are anything to go by – it is sure to be awesome!
So stay tuned for some entries about all the fun things Canberra has to offer – but be careful, or you might want to join us on our tree change to this wonderful part of the world!
